A Basic Overview on Roulette Odds
Roulette can often fascinate its players with the variety of ways one can place their bets on the game. Inside and outside bets are played from the roulette table layout. Oftentimes, it is this special feature of roulette that intimidates casino players to try out playing the game owing to its seemingly complex roulette betting layout.
But playing roulette is not as complex as it looks. The most basic strategy that one can do when initiating learning the game is to study its different betting features. It is notable that there are two common kinds of roulette games offered in casinos namely the European and American roulettes.
The main difference between the two is the presence of two zeros in American version when there is only one zero in European roulette. This difference spells out the odd difference of winning from American and European versions.
Because of the presence of a double zero in American roulette version, the odds of winning are far better in European roulette. The casino house advantage is higher with American roulette because it establishes a winning odd of 1 to 38 in contrast to the winning odd of 1 to 37 in European roulette.
For a better understanding about how the odds is determined in roulette one should note that a player can bet from numbers 1 to 36 and a zero (0) in European roulette while in American roulette the player can bet on the same numbers with the additional of a double zeros (00).
This gives a total of 38 numbers to bet on in American version and 37 numbers with European roulette thus giving the winning odds of 1:38 and 1:37 respectively.
Casinos always have the house advantage from their roulette game. This is the expected value from which a player will lose in favor to the casino. The winning odds in roulette is more favorable to the casino since the highest possible payout from roulette is only 35 to 1 while the odds of winning is 1:37 and 1:38 from both roulette versions.
But the European roulette has better odds than the American version which is especially true when the European version has the en prison rule. Moreover the player also has the opportunity to lose only half of their bet from European roulette which is a game rule not present with American roulette.
For a better odd of winning from roulette, playing the European version gives a better winning opportunity to roulette players.
